Welcome to PhD in Motion
Hi everyone, it’s me!
Lauren here! And thank you for being here at Active Intellect. If you’re wondering what on earth you’ve stumbled in to, please do pop back to the Intro, where you will learn a little bit more about Active Intellect, and what we are trying to achieve. If you’ve already had a look around, let’s get into it!
So, why PhD in Motion?
PhD in Motion captures two huge parts of myself, and this journey I will be bringing you along for.
I am, as of now - I still can’t quite believe it! - a PhD student in Biological Sciences at RHUL*. Although currently I can only loosely say this, as I’m yet to write more than my name in my notebook, my PhD research has begun - it’s in motion!
But also, so am I - literally, very often.
Not just in my other role as a mother, but in my other other role as a Fitness Instructor - specifically a Group Cycle class instructor (fitness enthusiasts FTW!).
I am an active little bean, and I’ve been teaching fitness classes as an actual job (rather than freebies for colleagues) for nearly two years now.
And I absolutely love it!
At the time of writing I’m also in training for my first Hyrox**, and I’ve got a Tough Mudder * * in a couple of weeks.
Not only will this blog follow my PhD journey and provide some tips, advice and experiences, I’ll also be sharing some fitness inspiration - because, let’s face it, I’m going to be super stressed, the gym is my outlet!
All of the above = PhD in Motion
This side of the blog is the more informal, with Cardio & Conservation reserved for disseminating my, or other, interesting findings.
Whatever your reason for being here, I hope you - whether you are a prospective PhD student, undergrad, or not a student at all but an animal enthusiast, have an interest in wildlife conservation and the nature preservation, or you just like reading something new - I hope you enjoy!
Lauren
P.S. Let’s be friends!
I would love to hear from you; drop me an email. Have suggestions and feedback? Something cool you want me to read? Or just want to say hello? Please do!
